General Questions
Which animals will you look after?
We'll look after: cats, dogs, fish, any small birds, chickens, ducks, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, chinchillas, mice, rats and rabbits.
Unfortunately we can't look after rarer and exotic animals or animals which require more specific knowledge such as horses, snakes, lizards, spiders etc.
Will you walk more than one dog at a time?
Yes, but you must tell us at the consultation if your dogs can be walked together. If not, they will be walked separately for an additional £1 per pet per visit.
Your guarantee mentions a Disclosure Scotland. What is that?
A Disclosure Scotland form is a document containing an individual's criminal history. We provide Enhanced Disclosure forms for all our personnel, showing all details considered relevant by the police and government. This is for your peace of mind so you know your home and pets are in safe hands.
What is discussed at the consultation?

Here we will create your care plan which will include:

  • Number of visits / Housesitting / Home Boarding
  • Walking times
  • Feeding times
  • Arranging ways for us to contact you in case of emergency
  • Any special requirements (special diets, exercises, where they can be walked, times pets can be let in/out etc.)
  • Deposit (if house-sitting) *See question below for more info.
How long is each visit?
Each visit will be long enough to do everything you would like us to do (feeding, walking, changing bedding etc). However, each visit will be no less than 20 minutes for small animals, 30 minutes for cats and 45 minutes for dogs.
Can I only employ your services if I'm going away for a long time?
No. Even if you just need someone to watch your pets or house while you're at work, it's no problem.
I need someone to look after my pet over a weekend. Is that a problem?
At Inverness PetSitters, we offer our services 7 days a week so weekends are not a problem.
Pet Care Questions
Will you pet sit dogs in heat?
Yes, however there must be an area at your home where they can be exercised as we cannot walk them.
If there is not enough food or litter etc. can you provide more?
Unfortunately no, as many pets are on special diets or extremely fussy. You must make sure there is enough food, litter, bedding etc. before you leave.
My pet needs medication, can you administer it for me?
If your pet needs it's medication in liquid or tablet form this is not a problem, however we cannot administer injections (eg. Insulin).
What if my pet falls ill while I'm away?
We would ask that you leave emergency contact numbers with us as well as details of your vet (if you have one). We will take them to a vet, however you will need to be contacted so we can then decide on a course of action, or you can speak directly to the vet if you wish.
House Sitting Questions
What kind of cleaning services do you offer?
We offer many different cleaning options which will be discussed with you during your free consultation.
What is your policy regarding appointment cancellations?
If you arrange for visits rather than full house-sitting, you can cancel right up to the scheduled start date

If you opt for full house-sitting, we ask for a 10% deposit which will be deducted from the final amount. However we cannot refund this amount if you cancel any less than 3 days prior to the start date.
When you're house sitting, how long will you be there each day?
For house-sitting your pets' carer would be away from your home for no more than 4 hours (total) during daylight hours, and would not leave the house at all during dark hours with the exception of an emergency.
Home Boarding Questions
Why do you ask for a deposit when house sitting and home boarding?
This is because we take most bookings a little in advance so if someone requests that we house-sit or home board, we must clear our schedule for those times. Your deposit will be refunded unless you cancel less than 3 days prior to the start date.
How much notice do I need to give Inverness PetSitters if my pet requires home boarding?
The further in advance you enquire about our services the better but we will do our best to accomodate your pet in an emergency etc.
I have a puppy who isn't vaccinated or house trained. Can I still opt for home boarding?
Yes. However, there may be an extra cost involved. Someone will discuss this with you at your consultation.
Is it possible to home board both my dogs together?
Yes, we will not split up dogs from the same family. However, because space is already limited it is advised that you book as far in advance as possible if you have more than one dog. Also, each additional dog will be charged at £11.25.
Can you home board my cat?
At present we can only home board dogs. However, our pet sitting and pet care services are an excellent alternative if you have cats or small animals..
Vet Appointments Questions
My dog has an appointment at the vets to get neutered. Are you still able to take them?
Yes. In this case we would drop your dog off at the vets, leave our contact details and then pick your dog up again after the operation and return them to your home.
When someone from Inverness PetSitters is taking my pet to their vet appointment do I need to inform the surgery?
Yes. Some vets may refuse treatment etc if they are unaware that the owner is not attending the appointment.
Will you pay the vet at the appoinment and then I reimburse you later?
No. It must be agreed with your vet that either treatment is paid for beforehand by you, or an invoice is sent out to you from the vet after the appointment.
